In 1963, Porsche introduced the successor to the 356. At the time, it was still called the 901, but this was soon changed to 911. It was to become the most iconic sports car in history.
Over the years, several generations were produced. The first series came with a 2.0L, 6-cylinder engine, producing 130 hp. Soon this was increased to 2.2L, culminating in a 2.4L with an output of 190 hp in the S model. The second generation – which connoisseurs call the ‘G series’ – was available from 1974 and equipped with a 2.7L engine.
That same year, Porsche also introduced the world’s first turbocharged series sports car. The 911 Turbo was born. The 3.0L, 6-cylinder engine had an output of 260 hp. This would subsequently be increased to 3,300 cc and 300 hp. In 1982, a convertible was introduced alongside the existing coupé and Targa line.
Collection by Vermant is happy to offer you this Porsche 911 Turbo – type 930 – convertible from July 1988 (model year 1988). This vehicle has a 3.3L, 6-cylinder engine, with an output of 300 hp. However, documents from 2005 indicate that this 930 has an output of 373 hp on the test bench!
The new vehicle was delivered to Germany, with body colour F7 or Marina Blau. This colour was only available in 1987 and 1988. The colour of the convertible roof is V8, the leather interior’s 98, or ‘Silbergrau’. The colour code of the carpets, finally, is 999. The car was equipped with several unique options, such as a locking differential, electric Turbo chairs on the left and right, a Blaupunkt ‘Berlin’ radio, an electric convertible roof, luggage compartment carpets in ‘Veloursteppich’, and finally an option from the ‘Exclusive’ programme, the ‘Slant nose’ rear flanks.
This 930 spent its early years in Germany, putting 21,000 kilometres on the odometer. In the early Nineties, the car was sold to an Italian, where it would remain until 2004 (just over 48,000 km).
Since then, the Turbo has resided in Sweden, where it was only sporadically used (until it changed hands at 60,600 km). It was then sold by us to Germany, until we were able to buy the back from the last owner.
This splendid convertible now has a mileage of 62,600 km. Naturally, this Porsche comes with all the documents to guarantee this low mileage. A filled-out service booklet, history, vehicle inspection documents, invoices, tools… which all only make this classic even more interesting.
A fantastic pure hardcore sports car from the iconic eighties, in the extremely rare convertible variant. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for real connoisseurs/collectors!
