“Collection by Vermant” is pleased to be able to offer you this very nice Ferrari 550 Maranello. The 550 was the first front engined V12 with two seats to come out of the Ferrari Factory since the Daytona in 1968. After the Ferrari 512M it was decided to move the engine to the front like introduced on the 4 seater 456. This marked a new era for the brand and resulted in some of there most coveted models to be fitted with a front mounted V12. The 5.5L V12 in the 550 boasted an impressive 485 horsepower and was mated to a 6 speed gearbox. To enhance the weight distribution of the car, a transaxle type gearbox was chosen. This resulted in the perfect and coveted weight distribution number of 50/50. This made the 550 not only one of the best looking cars of its era, but also one of the best handling. Despite the big V12 in the front, the 550 was extremely agile and nimble. One of the most impressive parts about the 550 is its usability. It does not only excel as a sports car but is also an joy to drive on long trips. There is ample luggage space in the boot area of the car and also has an additional luggage shelf behind the passenger seats. As an option, buyers could chose for a fitted luggage set made by Schedoni. These would fit perfectly in the luggage area of the car and could be strapped in on the parcel shelf, making most of the available space and looking stylish while doing so. Not many cars where delivered with this option and today it is a rarity to find a car with its original and complete luggage set. This 550 is one of the few survivors that still has its original and complete set, in unused and new condition.

This 550 started its life in May of 1998 and was delivery new by auto Becker in Dusseldorf. The first owner kept the car for several years and actually drove the car quite often. After 5 years ow ownership, the car already had 33.000 kilometers on the odometer. in 2003 he subsequently decided to part ways with his beautiful Ferrari 550 and sold the car to a Belgian enthusiast. He first registered the car in Belgium and subsequently registered the car at his second home in France. He continued where the first owner had left and used the car regularly. By 2019 he had driven 48.000km with the car, totaling the mileage to 81.000km. In 2016 the car was serviced, no expense spared at Ferrari Lyon for a total amount of 12.000€. After owning the car for 16 years, in 2019 the decision was made to sell the car. The third and final owner bought the car in 2021 and like the previous owners spared no expense on maintaining the car. It was immediately serviced and had its cambelts replaced. During his ownership it was serviced regularly but not used as much as with its previous owners.

When looking at the exterior of this 550, we can see the beautiful colour of Rosso Corsa. This colour accentuates the lines of the 550 very well and makes the car really stand out. It is not only one of the most recognisable colours on a Ferrari but also one that dates back to its early race cars. when developing the 550, Ferrari really went all out. It was the first model in a long time to not have Pop-up headlights and set the trend for future Ferrari models. The 550 also received some small aero enhancements. The front bumper has a small integrated spoiler lip on the bottom. on the side, we can find a double grille that allows for engine heat to be sucked out. On the rear of the car we can see a small and distinguished spoiler on the boot lid of the car. All these aided in the handling of the car, yet remained subtle enough to give the car a classy look. To put the power to the ground, Ferrari chose to equip the Maranello with a newly designed 5 spoke magnesium wheel. These were always painted silver to give a nice contrast to the body colour of the car and remain classy. the magnesium wheels where subsequently fitted with Pirelli P-Zero tires for optimal performance.

Going over to the interior of the 550, we can see a beautiful black leather interior. This is still in excellent condition and doesn’t reflect the mileage of the car at all! The black leather cannot only be found on the seats but is also applied to the headliner of the car, dashboard and centre console. This gives the car a very premium look and feel, something which was not always the case for a sportscar in the 2000’s. To aid in the usability of the 550, a parcel shelf was designed behind the back seats to house the optional luggage set. A set of black leather belts is available to secure these in case the drive gets a bit more spirited. The dashboard and interior of the 550 where designed very minimalistic, resulting in an interior that aged very well and does not give an outdated appearance. The luggage area of the 550 has ample space and also leaves room for the toolkit to be stowed below the luggage area in a separate compartment.
